Literature Text

My euphoria dissipated with harshly heard cries
Transfixed, I glared with calloused eyes
and a heart too sensitive to lose cherished lies

But I still loved you.

Embraced you so close my heart began to decay
Watched you victimize my pride with child's play
and with evaporated perception night appeared to be day

But I refused to care

Handed me pain with infidelity-discolored hands
I noticed your eyes and discovered your plans
you fell into societies view of what makes a man

And I finally realized

Suffered through hurt not felt by thousands other
I promised my heart it wouldn't belong to another
as I closed my eyes and saw myself as I was:
a sacrificial lover...

And I decided to leave
Honestly, I don't know where this came from, but I like it. Hope you do also.
